Celebrating the year of welcome
Digital Refugee Week: 14TH – 20TH JUNE 2020
For this year’s Refugee Week, MECA has partnered with various organisations to promote two events that will be hosted online.
Now I Call Australia Home
SydWest is calling for
your poem to celebrate
Refugee Week 2020
Submit a 5-line poem about what it means to be in Australia to you, starting with Now I call Australia Home. Your poem should reflect the objectives of Refugee Week:
- Raise awareness about the issues affecting refugees
- Celebrate the positive contributions made by refugees to Australian society
- Promote social engagement, participation, peace, and harmony. Submit a 5-line poem about what it means to be in Australia to you, starting with Now I call Australia Home.
Your poem can be written in your mother language but must include an English translation. All successful entries will go on to present at the Poetry Recital special online event. Anyone can participate; we are not looking for a perfect poem – it’s your self-expression that counts!
