SERVICES

Our client services advocate to ensure client have equal access to services and we work closely with local community partners and mainstream organisations to ensure supported pathways. Referrals are provided by caseworkers for clients that require specialised services not offered by MECA such as domestic violence or age care support.
Project workers and caseworkers are both involved in advocacy and representing the interests of our clients to government agencies such as Housing NSW, businesses such as private real estate agents and other non-government service providers.
To complement our casework services, we also provide group information sessions which cover a broad range of topics from social life in Australia, Australian law, health, employment and training pathways, to educational options for children and young people. This provides an opportunity for the community to come together and learn about Australia in a social and informative environment.
MECA provides client settlement services to individuals and families using a strength based casework model. Casework services focus on refugees and eligible migrants who have arrived in Australia within the past 5 years. Our casework services aim to provide settlement related information, advocacy, employment and education support and referrals to mainstream organisations.
Casework settlement services are delivered by bilingual and general workers that specialise in the provision of culturally appropriate assistance in a number of community languages including explaining the contents of documents, material assistance with bills and assistance with the negotiation of private and government institutions such as Centrelink.
